Hi ! Here is a solution to solve the following error you get when trying to download the Android AOSP source code using repo init command.

Error:

repo init -u https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest -b android-6.0.1_r1 --repo-branch stable
fatal: Cannot get https://gerrit.googlesource.com/git-repo/clone.bundle
fatal: error no host given
fatal: cloning the git-repo repository failed, will remove '.repo/repo'

Solution:

unset https_proxy
unset http_proxy
